EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FAQS
  • How long does the assessment process usually take?
The time required to complete an assessment process varies between roles and circumstances. The email you receive which outlines your login details and the assessments you have been requested to undergo will advise how much time to allow for completion. The process duration can range from 35 minutes to no more than 4.5 hours. Some assessments are timed and some are untimed. You may opt to complete all of the assessments in one sitting, or spread the assessments out over a series of sittings, depending on your situation.
  • Do I have to complete the assessments all at once?
No, the assessments do not have to be completed all at once. However, each individual assessment must be completed once started (as these are mostly timed assessments, you are not able to log off and come back to the same assessment later). Any particular assessment will take no longer than 1 hour to complete and the timing of that assessment is advised prior to commencement.
  • Do I need to use a computer, or can I use an iPad, phone or tablet?"
The online platforms on which the assessments are undertaken are compatible with laptop and desktop computers only. Attempting the assessments on any other device type, including phones and tablets, can lead to technical difficulties and in turn, impact your results.
  • Why do I need to complete the Pre-Assessment Questionnaire?
The Pre-Assessment Questionnaire allows us to understand the specifics around the testing assessment process for you, including whether you have undertaken psychometric assessments previously, or if you are able to perform to the best of your ability on the day. The questionnaire will ask if English is your second language, the purpose being to ensure fair consideration is given towards the results of relevant assessments which could be impacted by such. Completion of this online form provides Integrated PeopleStrategies with your permission to release your results to the relevant organisation, as well as informed consent regarding your rights as a candidate.

  • What do the assessments have to do with my work performance?
The assessments that are completed measure your aptitude and/or your behaviour. The aptitude assessments provide us with an indication of your technical ability to perform in the role, depending upon the specific requirements for the position. The behavioural assessment measures your personality characteristics and we analyse this in regards to the specific role competencies. • How does psychological assessment add insight into the recruitment and selection process?
In the recruitment and selection process, some people will sell themselves up, while others will sell themselves short. Often, the way we see someone in an interview can affect our perception of them. As well as this, people are often managing the impression they provide during interviews and other elements of the selection process. Psychological assessment is a tool that can be used to objectively assess the suitability of a candidate to a role, measuring their aptitude and likely behaviours in an impartial and unbiased manner.
  • Where does psychological assessment fit into the recruitment and selection process?
Psychological assessment can be utilised in various parts of the recruitment and selection process. Some organisations choose to conduct a screening interview, followed by a psychological assessment; others choose to conduct a preliminary interview, followed by psychological assessment and a second interview – it really depends on your needs and preferences.
  • Are there industry standards for psychological assessment?
Yes, to meet the industry standards for recruitment and selection, psychological assessments must have been found to be both reliable and valid. To ensure this, the assessments that are utilised have been widely researched, providing consistent results in predicting, measuring and capturing the aptitude and behaviours for which they are intended. Many of the assessments that are on the market do not go through this rigorous validation process. At Integrated PeopleStrategies, we also conduct our own in-house applied research prior to providing assessments to our clients, to ensure our service is evidence-based, predictive and reliable.
